　　1、 a small two-storey house 一个两层的小房子

　　Well, if truth be told, it wasn't really that impressive, because it was basically just a small two-storey house with a little garden running around it. 说实话，这房子并不是那么让人印象深刻吧，因为它就是一个两层的小房子，这房子是被一个花园环绕那种。

　　2、 looked pretty much what most other houses would have liked 看起来和其他房子差不多

　　So it probably looked pretty much what most other houses would have liked 50 years ago. 所以它看起来和50年前的其他房子差不多。

　　3、 commemorate sb. 纪念某人

　　The whole point of preserving the house was to commemorate the life of the poet, so the focus was on him rather than the building itself. 保存这房子的目的就是为了纪念一个诗人的一生，所以专注点在这个人本身而不是房子。

　　4、 calligraphy and photographs which are hanging up on the walls 挂在墙上的书法和照片

　　As for what people were doing there, well, there wasn't really that much to see, apart from the calligraphy and photographs which were hanging up on the walls. So people were mainly walking around the house looking at the various things on the walls and reading the captions which, I have to admit, I din't bother doing myself, as I wasn't the least bit interested in any of it. 至于人们在那里做什么，我觉得其实没啥可看的吧，除了一些挂在墙上的书法和照片。所以人们就在那里绕着走，看墙上的各种东西，还有解说。说实话，这些我是不愿意做的，因为一点都不感兴趣。
