郑州新东方雅思写作：地点状语从句

     1、这是我们的部门应该在的地方。

     错误：This is where our department should stay.

     错误点： stay改成locate或者be

     正确：This is where our department should be. 状语从句/This is the place where our department should be.定语从句

     知识点1：stay的用法，不能用在此句

     IN A PLACE 在某处

     [I] to remain in a place rather than leave 停留，逗留，留下

     They stayed all afternoon chatting.

     他们待了整个下午聊天。

     She stayed late to finish the report.

     为了完成报告，她工作到很晚。

     [+ in ] /[+ behind/after ]

     Stay in bed and drink plenty of liquids.卧床休息，多喝水。

     Some of the students stayed after class (= remained after others had gone ) to talk.有几个学生课后留下来说话。

     LIVE SOMEWHERE 住在某处

     [I] to live in a place for a short time as a visitor or guest 暂住，留宿

     How long are they going to stay?

     他们打算住多久？

     [+ at/with ] /[+ in ]

     My mother is staying with us this week.

     我母亲这星期来我们家住

     They’re staying in the same hotel.

     他们住在同一家酒店。

     2、无论你走到哪里，你都会发现人们在他们的业余时间从事娱乐休闲活动。

     正确：Everywhere you go, you will find that people are engaged in recreational activities in their spare time.

     知识点1：engage in 与be engaged in有啥区别?

     engage in 意为"参与,从事",用于肯定语气中,多表达的是"主动地参与"

     如：Companies shall engage in business activities within their registered scope of business.(公司应当在登记的经营范围内从事经营活动.)该动词短语一般在使用时与主语之间要加入 "can,will,shall"等辅助词,且多与to连用,构成非谓语动词短语,

     如：One of the strangest phenomena of life is to engage in a work that will last long after death.(人生最奇异的现象之一就是,你从事的事业在你死后仍将长久存在.)

     be engaged in 意为 "忙于...",与"be busy doing sth."类似.,被迫忙碌的意味.

     **engage in 的否定结构是"can/do/does...not be engaged in",这里的be engaged in则取"参与,从事"的意思.

     知识点2：recreational adj.娱乐的，消遣的；休养的

     Now recreational press provides a project for resolving the problem. The availability of project needs be proved by practice. 现在“娱乐化”的报道方式为解决这一问题提供了一个方案，方案的好坏终究要靠实践来检验。

     It is the popular or recreational characters of the movie that attract a lot of people to crowd into the cinema. 正是由于电影的通俗性或娱乐性吸引了众多的人涌进了电影院。
